Content Management Systems (CMS)
What is a Content Management System (CMS) and why would I want one?
A CMS is a
web application with two parts: (1) a database that stores your content
and (2) a server-side scripting language that retrieves and 'serves'
the content to your web browser.
It will allow you to edit your content
via a control panel that doesn't require programming expertise on
your part. If your company or organization makes frequent changes
to your web site content (and you should!) you should really consider
the advantages of a CMS, particularly if you have multiple editors:
- Avoid maintenance fees by updating your own web site
- No waiting for your designer to update the content when it is convient for him/her.
- Fresh content as often as you like, 24/7/365
- Flexible content placement
- Add unlimited pages
- Many options available as add-ons, including Events Calendar, Site Search, Photo Gallery etc.
- Ability to start a community/user based envionment, have users contribute to the content of the site to help it grow.
I can convert your existing site or set your new site up as a CMS.
If you only have one or two pages that you'd like to be able to edit, I do have scripts that will allow that too if a complete CMS is overkill for your site.
